210 Summer Campers Brushed by Storm, Boys OK, Some Damage Reported

Posted on Jun 24 2010 - 8:20am

8:00am - The wave of severe storms that went through southern Michigan and northeast Ohio overnight affected our troop’s campers staying at Camp Pioneer. According to Fox News Toledo a possible twister was sighted near the Scout camp outside the Village of Pioneer in northern Williams County at the height of the storm as it crossed into Ohio from Indiana. The Boy Scout camp is located about seven miles east of the village. High winds with heavy downpours and hail knocked out power to Pioneer and to nearby Kunkle.

21st Annual Dorchester International Brotherhood Camporee

Posted on May 10 2010 - 10:00pm

Camp Report: The 21st Annual Dorchester International Brotherhood Camporee turned from an event of fun and games to one of testing real Scouting skills. As other troops packed it in and went home, Troop2Ten continued its tradition of being able to face the fiercest of conditions in a safe and measured manner. The Troop faced relenting wind and rain from set up to break down. Dealing with wind gusts near 50mph, horizontal rain, hail and snow, each and every one of the boys showed their character and stared down their own fears and self imposed limitations. For the younger Scouts it may have been an exciting and maybe a slightly scary experience. For the older boys, we heard many stories of “it was worse when…” Even as the wind was howling, Peter Decker found a great new recipe with Trail Mix. We all grew from the experience.
